New Expo and Conference Add Eco-friendly Element to MD&M
The Green Manufacturing Expo and associated conference will make its debut at MD&M West
MD&M West marks the introduction of the Green Manufacturing Expo to MD&M events and their co-located trade shows. It is the first event of its kind in the United States.
As concern for the reduction of carbon footprints becomes increasingly prominent, many companies across the business spectrum are electing to do their part by adopting sustainable manufacturing practices. These entail employing processes that are environmentally friendly in addition to being safe and financially sound.
“Green manufacturing is a growing reality and we need to provide U.S. manufacturers with all the necessary information and tools to take advantage of the latest products and technology to improve their processes,” says Kevin O’Keefe, vice president of events at Canon Communications. “The economic benefit of ‘going green’ is very tangible in terms of reducing energy costs, improving recycling and treatment methods, getting ahead of the regulatory curve, and building customer good will.”
Products and services that can be found at the Green Manufacturing Expo include materials, recycling equipment and services, water treatment and waste management equipment and processes, software, and a range of such energy products as solar energy, wind power, and photovoltaic systems, along with solar components and batteries. Energy-saving motors, drives, conveyors, and processing equipment will be on display, as will biocompostable, recyclable, reusable, and biopolymer packaging. Consultants advising on sustainable manufacturing, energy management, and recycling and waste treatment will also be exhibiting. In conjunction with the launch of the Green Manufacturing Expo, Canon Communications will host an associated Green Manufacturing Conference at the Anaheim Convention Center during the show. The conference will address such topics as reducing carbon footprints, design for manufacturing, and zero waste. Implementing sustainable manufacturing techniques in a manner that decreases costs and maximizes profits will also be discussed.
