Molding for Medical Devices

When it comes to medical tubing, manufacturers are on a constant quest for tighter tolerances, thinner walls, and shorter lead times. In turn, tubing suppliers are shoring up their resources and strategizing to make themselves attractive to OEMs, especially as the economy rebounds.

“We have worked hard through the downturn to protect our resources–both equipment and people–and now we are ideally placed to grow as the market begins to pick up,” said Pexco CEO Neil Shillingford in a statement.

Earlier this month, the tubing company formerly known as Filtrona Extrusion changed its name to Pexco, the brand name of its medical products. Products that fall under the Pexco umbrella include single- and multilumen tubing, microbore tubing, thermally bonded paratubing, and wire-encapsulated tubing.

With so many medical applications for tubing, knowledge is power. OEMs must carefully select tubing partners, materials, and technology that meet their standards.
