IVD Technology Launches Virtual Conference and Tradeshow to Target Needs of In Vitro Diagnostic Market

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

IVD Technology Launches Virtual Conference and Tradeshow to Target Needs of In Vitro Diagnostic Market

Los Angeles, CA (August 23, 2010) – IVD Technology, the only trade media brand designed exclusively for manufacturers of in vitro diagnostic products, today announced the launch of its first annual Virtual Conference and Tradeshow to be held on September 28, 2010. The Virtual Conference and Tradeshow will give in vitro diagnostic OEMs multi-media, real-time access to leading suppliers and event speakers from anywhere in the world, without the stress and cost of travel.

As the only media provider dedicated exclusively to the in vitro diagnostics market, IVD Technology has the unique opportunity to be a bellwether for the market. Stephen Corrick, VP of Medical Device Media, said, “As leaders in the in vitro diagnostics space, our goal is to address the needs of this important audience across all relevant media channels. We had previously discussed an event of this nature as a someday project, but when our research showed that over 70% of IVD Technology’s audience was interested in attending a virtual event we knew that someday had to be today.”

Sponsors for IVD Technology’s Virtual Conference and Tradeshow are Biosearch Technologies and G&L Precision Die Cutting, LLC. Participating speakers include:

• Keynote speaker, Alberto Gutierrez, PhD, Director, OIVD
• Peter Lea, PhD, Founder and Chief Science Officer, SQI Diagnostics Inc.
• Robin, PhD, Professor of Pathology and Associate Director of Clinical Chemistry, University of Virginia
• Damon Getman, PhD, Senior Staff Scientist, Gen-Probe Inc.

IVD Technology’s Editor-in-Chief, Richard Park, commented, “The editorial team is thrilled to have a new media outlet to reach the in vitro diagnostics market. The experience and industry standing of each of our panelists augment the viability of this new medium to address the needs of our target audience. With the wide breadth of topics being covered – including regulation of IVDs, assay development, instrumentation and automation, and molecular diagnostics – this event is poised to be both an attention-getting and beneficial addition to IVD Technology’s industry outreach.”

Ron Wall, Senior Vice President for Publications at Canon, said that the virtual event technology provides a new channel for Canon’s Publishing Division to provide value for IVD Technology’s readers and advertisers. “This is a valuable tool for Canon Publishing, and we will closely monitor its effectiveness for possible use with other brands in our portfolio.”

IVD Technology’s Virtual Conference and Tradeshow platform was built on technology provided by Momentum Events. Stuart Bowen, President of Momentum Events, said, “We are extremely excited to be the enabling technology partner behind the IVD Technology Conference and Tradeshow. IVD Technology selected Momentum Events because, as a reseller of leading virtual event and stream media products including the expos2 Virtual-Expo platform, we could offer the best virtual event solution based on the objectives and budget of our client. IVD Technology has broken new ground with this event because no traditional trade show exists specifically to target manufacturers of in vitro diagnostic products and so a virtual event allows attendees to hear from leading experts, interact with sponsors and collect information, all without having to leave their office.”

Canon Communications Launches Behavioral Targeting Advertising Across its 45 Business-To-Business Websites

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Canon Communications Launches Behavioral Targeting Advertising Across its 45 Business-To-Business Websites

Initial test campaign using Google/DoubleClick’s Boomerang for Publishers yields 49% increase in click thru rate

Los Angeles, CA (August 17, 2010) - Canon Communications LLC, the leading producer of exhibitions and media brands serving the world’s advanced, technology-based manufacturing industries, today announced it is launching a new platform that enables behavioral targeted advertising and content opportunities across its 45 business-to-business websites.  Canon Communications is amongst the first B-to-B publishers to utilize Google/DoubleClick’s Boomerang for Publishers service that tracks user online actions and interests to deliver timely and relevant advertising and content.

The initial test campaign conducted by Canon Communications on EDN.com, a comprehensive information source for the EOEM (electronics original equipment manufacturer) segment, yielded a 49% higher CTR (click thru rate).  The first behavioral targeting campaign with multiple clients and campaigns will go live on EDN.com in August.

“Canon continues to implement new tools to provide essential resources for advanced manufacturing managers and design engineers,” said Charles McCurdy, CEO of Canon Communications.  ”By targeting ads served based on demonstrated interests, our websites become more pertinent to our user base.  Suppliers to advanced manufacturers-our advertisers-can make marketing budgets more productive and receive more highly qualified, actionable leads.”

Powered by Google/DoubleClick’s Boomerang for Publishers, visitors to Canon’s media websites are tracked in real-time and quickly become segment members allowing for efficient building of pre-qualified audience groups.  These audience groups can be selected by advertisers to deliver pinpoint accurate marketing messages as they navigate through Canon’s websites-surrounding the visitor with relevant advertising regardless of the subject matter.

“Canon’s websites have over 29 million unique visitors each year,” stated Jason Brown, Vice President for Digital Media.  ”We are always looking for ways to connect these visitors with meaningful content and advertiser messages.  With our new behavioral targeting program, we can deliver relevant information to our audience, and our advertisers have the opportunity to engage with our users based on demonstrated technology, product or subject matter interest like never before.  Simply put, it’s delivering the right message to the right audience at the right time-a powerful equation and one we are excited to deliver across all our markets and media brands.”

Canon Communications’ Medical Device Brands Survey Identifies Media Preferences of the Global Medical Device Community

Canon Communications’ Medical Device Brands Survey Identifies Media Preferences of the Global Medical Device Community

Survey tracks use of traditional media and e-media channels by nearly 4,000 medical device professionals worldwide

Los Angeles, CA (July 21, 2010) – Today, Canon Communications LLC’s Medical Device Brands released the findings of its Global Medical Device OEM Survey.  The study, which includes responses from nearly 4,000 members of Canon Communications’ worldwide audience of medical device professionals, is the largest, most comprehensive study of the medical device OEM community.

The study, conducted by Readex Research, surveyed medical device professionals in North America, Europe, Asia, and other emerging markets about their preferences for acquiring work-related information from different media sources, how they use these media channels during the product cycle, and how media is used to learn about emerging technologies and trends and ultimately during the supplier/product selection process.  In addition, the study looked at purchasing process trends as well as growth projections in an effort to measure the stability of the medical device market.

“The results of this survey conclusively demonstrate that traditional and e-media channels are highly-valued and utilized by medical device professionals around the world, during different stages in their careers and in each phase of the product cycle,” stated Stephen Corrick, Vice President of the Medical Device Brands Division at Canon Communications.  “Another important finding is that supplier/vendor websites are a significant source for information for medical device professionals, especially product-specific information.  Suppliers and vendors cannot underestimate how important it is to direct decision-makers to their websites via industry media channels and search, and to serve rich, credible and educational content via their websites.”

The most significant overarching theme from the findings is that medical device professionals, regardless of age or geographic location, are utilizing traditional media sources, including print trade publications and trade shows/conferences, in conjunction with e-media/digital media sources, including search engines, websites and e-newsletters/e-mail delivered media, to stay educated and informed about industry and technology developments.  The study also reveals that as medical device OEM professionals seek product information, they are linking to supplier/vendor websites and view this as an important source for research and product content.

Further results of the study are available by contacting Michael Bartolomei at michael.bartolomei@cancom.com.

Canon Communications Announces Redesign of NutritionalOutlook.com to Better Address Needs of Manufacturers of Dietary Supplements and Health Foods

Website relaunch in fall 2010 utilizes industry-leading content strategy to expand offerings to users

Los Angeles, CA (July 21, 2010) - Today, at the IFT Annual Meeting and Food Expo, the largest annual food science forum and exposition in the world, Canon Communications LLC announced it is in the process of a redesign of NutritionalOutlook.com, the leading online resource for manufacturers of dietary supplements and healthy foods.  The website redesign, featuring new content, qualified supplier search, community-building tools, and nutraceutical industry resources, will launch in fall 2010.

“The NutritionalOutlook.com redesign is a significant undertaking for our team and we are working on a number of elements to increase the site’s appeal to visitors and advertisers alike in this top-to-bottom redesign,” stated Patrick Lundy, Senior Group Publisher of Nutritional Outlook,  ”We want our visitors to be able to quickly access relevant content, search for qualified nutraceutical suppliers, and have a bigger voice on NutritionalOutlook.com.”

The new NutritionalOutlook.com will adopt an entirely new content strategy geared at expanding traditional content offerings as well as serving visitors with relevant resources like white papers, webcasts, forums, blogs, and qualified supplier resources based on their search parameters and interests.  The redesigned NutritionalOutlook.com is built on a highly customized version of the Drupal open-source content management platform.  The flexible platform will allow for enhanced content experiences, powerful navigation and search, as well as tools designed to strengthen community and allow visitors to contribute to opinions, advice and content.  In addition, NutritionalOutlook.com will provide new and engaging advertising and sponsorship opportunities along with registration, analytics, website statistics, and user behavioral information.

One of the key new features will be the qualified supplier directory powered by industry-leading search capability.  Canon Communications has pioneered the latest in online directory technology with the introduction of its medical device qualified suppliers directory, Qmed, in April 2010.  The proven Qmed platform will be modified to relate to the nutraceutical industry’s requirements providing a powerful tool for the industry.  According to Patrick Lundy, “Nutraceuticals manufacturers will be able to pull targeted search results and listings of global suppliers who are GMP-registered, ISO certified, have GRAS status, and have been reviewed by our editorial staff.  It will be the only site with this type of vetted, targeted information.”

Ron Wall, Senior VP of Publishing commented, “In B-to-B media, content is still king.  The combination of Nutritional Outlook’s excellent editorial team and Canon’s industry-leading Digital Media group will deliver top-notch content and online marketing services for the nutraceuticals marketplace.  Our audience needs this community and when it is complete, the new NutritionalOutlook.com will provide it.  We are excited to invest in this important resource for the global nutraceuticals industry.”

Canon Communications and InHealth to Present Healthcare Reform Panel in New York

June 8 session will focus on likely outcomes of landmark legislation

Los Angeles, CA (June 3, 2010) – Canon Communications and the Institute for Health Technology Studies (InHealth) are partnering to present a special session, “Innovation and Reform: What’s Next for Medical Technology Businesses?” on June 8 at Canon’s Medical Design & Manufacturing (MD&M) East Conference in New York City. The session will focus on the range of likely outcomes from healthcare reform, and how those outcomes might affect medical technology businesses–and the patients who rely on them.

The InHealth panel will facilitate discussion about the challenges facing U.S. healthcare reformers in the form of rulemaking and other tasks needed to implement the nation’s landmark reform legislation. It also aims to advance understanding of how new policies might affect the carefully balanced business environment that supports medtech innovation. Panelists for the session will include Scott Gottlieb, MD, resident fellow at the American Enterprise Institute; William Homer, tax adviser in the life sciences and healthcare group of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu; Susan Reardon, director of medical device and diagnostics federal affairs and policy at Johnson & Johnson; Randel Richner; and Anthony G. Viscogliosi, founder, chairman, and CEO of Small Bone Innovations Inc., and cofounder and principal of Viscogliosi Bros. LLC.

“The medtech industry needs to be very clear that the innovations of the past 20 years have saved or radically improved millions of lives that would otherwise have been lost or created a huge financial burden on our healthcare system,” says Viscogliosi. “Proposed fees and actions that stifle innovation will restrict the availability of quality care–no question.”

MD&M East is the premier East Coast event for research and development, design, engineering, manufacturing, and regulatory affairs professionals within the medical manufacturing industry. This year’s conference will take place June 7–10 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, in New York City.
